Boards & Committees

Advisory Committees and Boards create meaningful opportunities for members of the public to participate in specific issues in the City of Victoria. This model is also intended to improve Council decision making and make the advisory committee structure more valuable to those contributing. 

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Accessibility Advisory Committee champions, informs and provides feedback to City Council and staff on a range of City initiatives, programs and services through an accessibility lens.

Advisory Design Panel

The Advisory Design Panel's purpose is to advise Council on the design merits of plans referred to the Panel.

Board of Variance

The Board of Variance reviews appeals for relief of provisions of the City's zoning bylaw in which compliance would cause undue hardship as well as additions and structural alterations to non-conforming buildings. It does not address matters related to land use, density limits, parking variances or landscape variances.

Citizens' Assembly Council Committee

In the 2018 municipal election, residents of Saanich and Victoria voted in favour of exploring the costs, benefits, and disadvantages of the amalgamation of Saanich and Victoria through a citizens' assembly process.

Heritage Advisory Panel

The Heritage Advisory Panel's purpose is to advise Council on heritage matters referred to the Panel.
